There are two different types of Total Stall System available. Your choice will depend on the type of stable/stall you are intending to use the unit on. In both cases the procedure for locating the sensors is the same but the fitting of the main unit is different.

If you have a stable with grills/bars along the front your equipment will come with a backplate which attaches to the bars and allows the water to spray into the stable between the bars

If you have an enclosed stable where the horse can only see out over the door you will get an attachment which allows the water nozzles to be located in the stable whilst the main unit remains outside the stable, out of reach of the horse.

As mentioned above the location and setup of the sensors is the same for both Total Stall Systems:
  • Install the AA batteries provided into the QuitKick wall sensors. Once the batteries are installed the sensors are active. There is no On/Off switch on the sensors.
  • Tap each sensor with your finger. The green LED light will illuminate briefly. This shows the sensor is working correctly and emitting a signal.
  • You need to locate the wall sensors near to where the horse is kicking but not where they will receive a direct kick from the horse.
  • For best results attach the wall sensors to the actual piece of wood/board that is being kicked most often but away from the most intensely kicked area. It is a good idea to locate the wall sensors on the reverse side of the kicking boards if this is easily accessed.
  • The sensors can be located up to 1.5 meters away from the most heavily kicked part of the wall.
  • Low down on the wall under the bedding is a good location as it is best the horse cannot see the sensors.
  • Attach the sensors firmly to the walls with the shorter screws provided. Be careful not to drop these in the bedding.
  • To test if the sensor is detecting a kick hit the wall with something hard. If you kick the wall yourself it may not activate. This is because the impact and resulting vibrations of your (soft) shoe is very different to when a horse kicks the wall.
  • Move the sensors if required until the LED light illuminates when the wall is struck in the area where the horse is kicking.
  • If your horse kicks the door and the interior walls simply locate one of the sensors on the outside of the stable door where the horse cannot reach it.
